PUT YOUR GIFT TO WORK

"Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you". 1 Timothy 4:13-14 EXPOSITION Everyone has some great deposit of gift from the Lord in them. Sadly, few of us are aware of this and even those who are aware, rarely put their gift into use. One thing we should realise is that, God gives us his gifts to work with them but not to leave them idle. Mineral deposits like gold is a gift from God but until it's mined, refined and processed into specific products or items, they serve no human needs. God has placed in us abundance of spiritual gifts, the onus is now on us to work with them for the benefit of ourselves and the church. One progresses spiritually and physically when they put their gifts into diligent and effective use. Let's now devote ourselves to put into use any gift the Lord has deposited in us. Let'

YOU ARE A SLAVE BUT TO WHO/WHAT?

"Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?". Romans 6:16 NIV EXPOSITION The relationship between a master and a slave is that the master instructs the slave and the slave has an obligation to obey such instructions. No matter your status in life, you are a slave. One is a slave to what they obey, respect or hold allegiance to. Now the question is, as a slave who is your master? Is it righteousness that leads to eternal life or sin that leads to eternal destruction? A critical examination of the above question will let you know where you are heading to. Some of us are slaves to the beauty and pleasures of the world. Their wealth, beauty, desires of the flesh, and status in life direct their thought and path. Be Led By The Holy Spirit

"Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other". Galatians 5:24-26 NIV EXPOSITION Those who are in Christ have clothed themselves with Him. The world and colleague Christians expect Christ like character in them and that can only be possible when we are led by the Spirit of the most high. When we allow our actions to be dictated by the Holy Spirit we will not live to please the flesh for the Spirit of God will not create in us desires which are contrary to God's expected way of life for us. The Spirit only communicates to us what he receives from the father. THE GREAT LOVE OF GOD

"If you, Lord , kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you. Israel, put your hope in the Lord , for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins". Psalm 130:3-4, 7-8 EXPOSITION The love of God is so great that He keeps no records of our sins. There wouldn't be enough space to record my sins should God open a book for that purpose for I'm a sinner by nature and actions. In God, there is forgiveness of our sins through the unfailing love He demonstrated by giving His only begotten son as a ransom for our sins. The Lord redeems us from our sins when we acknowledge them and repent. But does the love of God give us the ticket to sin? LEARNING THE SECRET OF SAILING THROUGH EVERY SITUATION

Scriptures: "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength". Philippians 4:12-13 EXPOSITION The secret to sailing through every situation with great joy and peace is Christ. If you are aware that in Christ you have been blessed with all the heavenly blessings required for your physical and spiritual survival, you will always learn to draw your strength from him in every situation. Apostle Paul learned to live above his situation because his live hinged on Jesus (the gospel). To some when they have plenty then the Lord is good. The Lord is bad, wicked, uncaring, heartless when situations do not work out according to plan, when they fall sick or run out of basic needs in life. Don't let your situation dictate how you serve God rather let God dictate how you treat y

HOW ARE YOU KNOWN?

Scriptures: "You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them". 2 Timothy 3:10-11 EXPOSITION Apostle Paul was known in his ministry for his teaching, way of life, purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, and sufferings. Fellow believer, if you stood before God today how would he identify you? Or even in the church how are you known? Are you known as the one who has the work of God at heart or you are only in the church to please members, pastors, leaders, or friends? Even Jesus once asked his disciples, "Who do people say I am?", Mark 8:37. Think about it. How we are known in the church and by God is very important in our Christian walk. THE LORD IS OUR REFUGE

Now the Lord being our refuge means in him we are safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, difficulty and  every bad situation. BUILD YOURSELF UP IN THE FAITH

Think about what happened to Job and the other great servants of God. Their faith was tested on many occasions. The apostles for instance, were chained, imprisoned, and flogged but because their faith was firmly built on the ROCK, they never gave up. Job, the Bible says never sinned against God in all his difficulties. To build our faith, we need to be connected with the Holy Spirit who will teach, remind, direct, rebuke, and comfort us in the good and bad times. Society today embrace the rich regardless of how they made their wealth. God is not against the rich, He is not against living a good life. He is against using questionable means to make it in life. Living good or being rich at the expense of others doesn't please God. He doesn't measure our lives based on how much we have but how well we have used what we have to solve problems and to help others.
